Please check in with our receptionist when you arrive. She will obtain all of the necessary documentation to file your insurance claim successfully.

In order to examine the retina, your eyes will be dilated. If further tests are needed, they will probably be performed immediately.

Your active participation and cooperation are important to positive long-term results. We will provide the information you need to make your visit as helpful and informative as possible.

Examination
The initial evaluation will be comprehensive. We will do our best to complete all necessary tests, explain results and make recommendations at that time. Because both eyes will be dilated, we strongly advise against driving. We suggest bringing a friend or relative to drive you home after each visit. Please plan at least two hours for your appointment and bring the following:

If necessary, please arrange for a referral with your HMO primary care physician prior to the date of the appointment. The referral may be called in to 314.727.6711 between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm. It can also be faxed to 314.727.0705, at least 24 hours before the appointment.
A current address and phone number for your medical doctor and eye doctor.
Your co-pay, if required, and all insurance cards.
A list and/or actual containers of all the medicines you currently take, prescription and over-the-counter.

Emergencies
We understand that emergencies often occur after regular hours. One of our doctors is available at all times for patient questions, referrals and, when necessary, emergency surgery. Emergency calls are handled through our main office number, 314.727.6711.
